Fresh updates or new beginnings
Now that we have been spending more time at home have you been craving a new lick of paint or a complete update to your surroundings? Maybe you are about to or have just moved. Obviously, at times like this, we would normally steam ahead and get things started but our lockdown times have allowed us to take time to ponder or mull over the choices available to us.
We had the same feelings with regards to the showroom. We have been situated in Penarth now for 5 years!! We were very happy with the style of the showroom but felt we could use the time effectively to update. It was hard to move away from the grey! But where to start? Do you pick a colour scheme first or a product (in our case a light fitting or flooring). Are you inspired by nature, travel, trends or a personal love of a certain colour or style?
In our case, we started with a colour. Ian is lucky enough to visit quite a few homes and is often in awe of the stylish homes he visits. Teal is often mentioned so it was a starting point. We wanted to move away from cool greys to warmer tones especially after looking into interior design trends for this year, so we selected tones that would compliment the teal. This influence came via travel and natural suurroundings. Check our mood board showing our colour scheme and interior features that we settled on.
So the redecoration of the showroom is now completed. We had a Zoffany paint for our feature wall and woodwork called Teal (obvious?) and the rest of the paint work was a Farrow & Ball colour called Bone. We have our main desk with a leatherette fabric from The Style Library which can be found online. The was selected in a Taupe colour to compliment the Bone walls. We were lucky enough to fine that the Zoffany wallpaper we put up when firat opening the showroom still had tones that would work with the warmer tones so we retained all our wallpaper which was great to avoid the expense of replacing it and i'm so glad we didin't have the need to remove it!! Quality Carpets of Albert Road Penarth, kindly supplied and fitted our flooring which we selected to have Amtico flooring fitted as a herribone style in a dark oak tone. We love this and would have this in our home too! The guys from Quality Carpets were great! As for our light fitting, we wanted something a bit different from the chandeliar we had initially. Going for gold was a natural choice and sticking with the warm tone as well as it being a statement piece. We love our gold bubble! We hope you love our new showroom as much as we do.
